My broadcasting experience started while I was a student at College. I joined the radio club in 2000 and worked at Radio ODTÜ in different positions between 2001 and 2011. With my partner Muzocan Akyürek, we hosted an alternative and indie music program called Alt Sokak between 18 March 2005 to 22 June 2011. During this journey, thanks to Muzo, Alt Sokak was Turkey’s first podcast included in the Apple Podcast platform. As we were pioneers in this field from Turkey, podcasting and broadcasting have always been special mediums for me.

During the COVID lockdowns, thanks to Julia from Keith F’eM, I had the chance to go back to this practice, and I started Art Next Door, an interview series featuring the independent art scene in Berlin.

Since 2023, I have produced Kaethe Wenzel’s The Artist’s Tool Kit podcast. It is in German and English, and I highly recommend it for young artists at the beginning of their careers. It has amazing tips and suggestions for your development!

Art Next Door

Due to my workload I had to give a long pause to Art Next Door in May 2022. But all the previous interviews are on these following platforms: Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.

Art Next Door features the independent art scene in Berlin. The program started as a bi-weekly show in July 2020. Since January 2021, the radio show and podcast are presented every first Monday of the month at F’eM. In this radio show and podcast series, I interviewed project space directors, curators, emerging and young artists and their current projects.

This new episode of the Art Next Door features gr_und, a nonprofit artist-run space situated in Wedding, Berlin. In this conversion we talked to James Verhille and Damien Sayer from gr_und.  The other members of the project space who were not in this interview are Anna Frick, Cedric Mantel, and Nina Blume.  We talked about the space, their program of 2022 and how they plan organise their events. What makes gr_und unique is that their Sprache Stunde concept on Tuesday that allows artists to meet the members to discuss their practice, review their portfolios and discuss for a possible collaboration in the future.
